Cal Water Completes Water System Improvements in Oroville

New Water Well Pump and Motor Will Add Reliability, While Reducing Electricity Maintenance Costs

2016-1012 Oroville station 2 improvements

OROVILLE, Calif. — Customers of California Water Service's (Cal Water) Oroville service area now benefit from increased water supply reliability and lower electricity and maintenance costs, thanks to the replacement of the water well pump and motor at one of Cal Water's stations in Oroville. The previously installed pump and motor had reached the end of their useful lives, and were proactively replaced as part of Cal Water's ongoing efforts to ensure its customers continue to have a safe, reliable water system.

According to Toni Ruggle, Cal Water's Oroville District Manager, the new pump and motor will enable Cal Water to pump additional water from the well, while decreasing the amount of electricity used at the facility.

"We are committed to ensuring our customers have a water system they will be able to rely on for decades to come," said Ruggle. "Replacing this equipment is part of our commitment to provide our customers with quality, service, and value. Not only is this new equipment more reliable, but its higher efficiency ratings will reduce the amount of electricity needed to operate the well. Combined, these factors help to control our expenses, which directly impacts the rates paid by our customers."

Cal Water serves about 10,400 people through 3,600 service connections in Oroville and about 2 million people through 480,300 service connections in California. The company, which has provided water service in the area since 1927, was ranked "Highest in Customer Satisfaction among Water Utilities in the West" in 2016 by J.D. Power in its inaugural Water Utility Residential Customer Satisfaction Study. Additional information may be obtained online at
