WAIKOLOA, Hawaii—Hawaii Water Service Company (Hawaii Water) announced today that Anthony (Tony) Carrasco has taken the helm as the utility's new General Manager. Carrasco comes to Hawaii with 27 years of water utility experience and has extensive hands-on knowledge of water distribution, operations, and treatment systems.

Carrasco was most recently the Director of Field Operations for Hawaii Water's sister company, California Water Service (Cal Water). During his tenure at Cal Water, he worked as an Operation Maintenance Worker, a Certified Pump Operator, a Treatment Pump Operator, a District Manager, and a Director of Operations. Carrasco holds Water Treatment Grade Four and Water Distribution Grade Five certifications and served as a U.S. Navy Seabee.

Mike Mares, who had been Hawaii Water's General Manager since 2014, returned to the mainland to serve as District Manager of Cal Water's Bakersfield District. According to Mares, Hawaii Water is in excellent hands with Carrasco.

"I have had the pleasure of knowing Tony for more than 20 years," Mares said. "He brings to Hawaii significant experience and expertise managing complex water systems. What I admire most is how he treats all people with respect and his dedication to lead with integrity."
