Another Water Infrastructure Improvement Project Completed in Los Altos

LOS ALTOS, Calif. — California Water Service (Cal Water) has completed another water main installation project in the Rancho neighborhood of Los Altos. The upgrade will strengthen infrastructure reliability and resiliency for customers and improve fire protection capabilities in the area for first responders.

The project, which began in May, included the installation of 4,235 feet of new 8-inch PVC water main and 71 new 1-inch service connections. Construction took place on Parma Way, from Rosita Avenue to Fremont Avenue, and along Fremont Avenue to Campbell Avenue. Crews also installed six new fire hydrants to ensure firefighters have the water supply they need to protect the community in an emergency.

“Cal Water is committed to making proactive investments in our local infrastructure to ensure our customers and first responders continue to have a safe and reliable water supply for everyday and emergency needs,” said Cal Water Superintendent Oscar Ramos. “This infrastructure upgrade in Los Altos reinforces the reliability and safety of the local water system and helps us fulfill our promise to provide quality, service, and value to our customers and communities.”

Crews conducted water quality testing before individual water services were connected to the new mains. At the completion of the project, crews restored all impacted streets, sod, and landscaping.

Cal Water serves approximately 70,100 people through 19,000 service connections in the Los Altos area and about two million people through 486,900 service connections in California. The utility has provided water service in the area since 1931.
