Cal Water Employee Recognized as "Distinguished Rotarian" and "Cog of the Year" by Downtown Salinas Rotary Club

SALINAS, Calif. — The Downtown Salinas Rotary Club has recognized California Water Service (Cal Water) District Manager Brenda Granillo as a "Distinguished Rotarian" for her efforts in raising more than $10,000 for the Club's annual Pigs, Pinot & More fundraising event. Granillo, who joined the Club in 2016, was also awarded the "COG of the Year" honor, which recognizes the Club's outstanding new member.

"We are pleased to have Brenda representing Cal Water in an organization that improves the lives of residents in the local community," said Mike Jones, Cal Water Director of Operations. "At Cal Water, we are more than a water utility; Brenda's contribution to the Downtown Salinas Rotary Club is a prime example of our own commitment to enhancing the quality of life in the communities we serve."

The Pigs, Pinot & More fundriaiser featured more than 20 local wineries and a dozen local chefs and raised more than $50,000. The funds go toward the Club's many philanthropic endeavors, including a flu clinic that provides vaccines, booster shots, and hygiene goodie bags to residents of Salinas' Chinatown community. Funds are also used to support the Club's Interact and Rotaract programs, which help teenagers and young adults develop leadership and professional skills to make a positive impact on their communities and workplaces. Granillo currently serves as co-liaison for the Rotaract program.
