California Water Service Honored With "Distinguished Service to the Community" Award by Selma Chamer of Commerce
SELMA, Calif.—The Selma Chamber of Commerce (Chamber) presented California Water Service (Cal Water) with the Distinguished Service to the Community Award for the utility's ongoing commitment at the Chamber's annual banquet last night.
The Chamber's Distinguished Service to the Community Award recognizes a person or organization that has given outstanding service to Selma over an extended period of time. Cal Water and its employees are active in numerous local business and service organizations, such as the Selma Rotary, Selma Public Education Foundation, and Second Chance Animal Shelter. The utility also supports local fundraisers, events, and projects, such as the Rotary Marching Band Festival, Selma Chamber Crab Feed, Selma Arts Council, Bringing Broken Neighborhoods Back to Life, and Selma Cares.
"Cal Water's purpose is to improve the quality of life in this community we have served since 1962, and while we're just doing the right thing, I'm honored that the Selma Chamber of Commerce has recognized us with this award," said Steve Johnson, Cal Water Local Manager. "Here at Cal Water, we are more than a water utility; our employees live and work here, and we are committed to being part of the community."
"Not only does Cal Water deliver millions of gallons of clean water to Selma homes and businesses, the utility also generously gives back to the community and our citizens," said Bob Allen, Chamber Executive Director. "Our community is fortunate to benefit from both of those services Cal Water provides."
Cal Water serves about 6,400 service connections in Selma and about 2 million people through 482,400 service connections in California. The utility has provided water service in the area since 1962. Additional information may be obtained online at www.calwater.com.
