Cal Water Announces Temporary Leadership Assignments for Chico District
CHICO, Calif. — California Water Service (Cal Water) has announced temporary changes in leadership for the utility's Chico District. Tavis Beynon has taken the helm as Interim District Manager in Chico, while previous District Manager George Barber is serving as Interim Director of Field Operations for the utility's northern California region.
In Barber's role, he will continue to oversee the Chico District in addition to eight other districts in northern California. The changes come as the permanent Director of Field Operations, Mike Jones, manages the utility's coronavirus response.
Beynon started his Cal Water career in July 2002 in Chico and has more than 17 years of water utility experience. Beynon has held numerous jobs during his Cal Water career in the Chico and Willows Districts, including Temporary Laborer, Operation Maintenance Worker, Serviceperson, Foreman, Meter Reader, Certified Pump Operator-Storekeeper, Inspector, Cross-Connection Control Specialist, Superintendent, Acting Local Manager, and Operations Manager. Beynon holds Water Treatment Grade Two and Water Distribution Grade Four certifications from the State Water Resources Control Board.
"Tavis is intimately familiar with our Chico District and is an exceptional operator, who will serve our community well," said Barber. "I am confident the Chico District will thrive with Tavis at the reigns and that our customers will continue to receive the quality, service, and value they have come to expect with Cal Water."
Cal Water serves approximately 107,500 people through 30,500 service connections in Chico and Hamilton City. Company-wide, Cal Water serves about 2 million people through 489,600 service connections in California. The utility has provided water service in the area since 1926.
